[Pansophy] A piezo by any other name

Hi Larry,
As far as the Traveler Template (MS Word) goes, it has to be changes manually. For acronyms that are not in the list, you can hand type them in. We are still working on clearing up the list to ensure that we have one acronym for a type of part.
To find acronyms that are acceptable, take a look at Pansophy -> Travelers -> User Tools -> Travelers Tools -> TP Acronyms. Select Component in the "Listing for" dropdown, then you can search the DESC for "STEP" (hit tab to activate the filter) to find the stepper motor acronym.
I think in large part the L2HE Master Traveler List was copied from the L2PRD project. We will be making changes to correct acronyms and (I'm not clear on this) update the traveler naming convention.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the background. I figured it was a story similar to the steppers, and the logic behind the naming convention makes sense.
That said, since the HE piezos are already in Primes as TUNPZ, I want to be sure I understand how The Team would like to proceed. Two questions:
There is no drop-down entry for piezos in the traveler template's Pansophy ribbon; should PIEZOSN or TUNPZSN be added to the ribbon?
The MasterTravelerList shows the traveler name as TUNPZ; should that stay the same or be changed?
Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry,
This is another case where, back in the C100 days, the piezo acronym was PIEZO, but was changed by the traveler writer for L2PRD. I missed the TUNPZ when the parts arrived and we got a little rushed.
The basic thinking behind this is that parts should have an acronym separate from the assembly. Piezos (PIEZO) and stepper motors (SM) only go on the tuner, so why be redundant with the naming. HMFT and FPFT only go on the cavity and we don't use CAVHMFT or CAVFPFT. Just trying to normalize things for consistency.

Good afternoon,
Another part name question; this time for the piezo element used on the tuner. Primes vartype is TUNPZSN, but that abbreviation isn't in the drop-down on the Pansophy ribbon. The MasterTravelerList says the traveler is to be named L2HE-INSP-TUNPZ. Since TUNMT became SM, I was just checking to see if there's an new name for this part as well, or if TUNPZ is just missing from the Pansophy ribbon?
Thanks,
Larry
