[Pansophy] Extra Ports ? Alternative

Anne / Erik,

I know I'm late to this and I'm not sure I know what all is happening.

1. Anne, were you able to check my 2nd port in the office?

2. If my 2nd port is available, then can we move SRFSAMUELS to my office and connect 1 of my monitors to it? Then if Allen needs to go into work, then he can use his computer there.

3. If SRFSAMUELS is moved, then the SRFSTUDENTx computer can be moved from Jacob's office to Megan's desk area.

Not sure if this makes more problems or not... please let me know.

Hi Erik

It looks like I will need a 50 ft cable to go from Aarons Cube to Mark's cube

It's not urgent - we would just like to get Aaron's computer running again

Thanks Anne

Anne,

I am not sure if this will work because Allen's computer is already under my desk

Hi Valerie

Would you have any objection to my moving the Student Computer under Megan's desk to the cube of Mark (ODU student )

Then we would only need a short cable from Megan's cubicle to Aarons cube (otherwise I will be asking Erik for a 50 ft cable that will run through everyone's Cubes - Mark is at one end of a set of 4 cubes, and Aaron is at the opposite end of the cubes)

I will check with Mark to make sure he is OK with this - if it works out then we only need one cable (25 ft), I have two short cables that would work in Mark's cube already in my office)

Thanks Anne

We have 25', 50' and 75' cables. If you want to go that route.

If there is a jack there in Mark's office it can be patched in / activated.

One final option would be to install a small network switch to add additional ports to the cubicle. This would go through CNI as it's their network in there.

In a perfect world, Aaron's cube would be Aaron's cube. The students should be moved as a lower priority than staff. There really isn't an open cubicle to be found up there on the second floor?

I will do my best to remember to drop off a mouse.

Hi Erik -

Also Aaron's mouse disappeared along the way, so it you have a spare could you please bring it when you are on site next (not urgent)

If you need me to put in a CCPR , I am happy to do it

Thanks Anne

Subject: Extra Ports ?

Hi Erik

I put in a CCPR to install & activate a second port in Aaron's Cube (2217-1) , however expect it will take a very long time before they come

In the meantime I noticed that there appear to be unoccupied ports in adjacent Cubes

  * Josh Spradlin (2217-3) , except he has multiple computers and monitors under his desk - so I thought I should leave his alone

  * Mark Stefani (ODU) 2214-4 - his cube is about 26 ft away from Aaorn's cube

Megan McDonald sits next to Aaron's Cube , however both of her ports are occupied - one with a student computer , so one idea is to move one of the student computers to Mark's cube (assuming it can be activated) and put the student computer on his second port - then Aaron could be easily connected to the second port in Megan's cube - and leave his computer in his own Cube - otherwise we would need a 30 + ft cord . The student from R&D will be continuing to use the port in Aaron's cube for months to come - on occasion she comes into the office, but not often

Could you let me know your thoughts ?

Thanks Anne
