Hi Anne,
I'm not sure this falls under the supplier management section of ISO, but it is a matter that I'm going to be dealing with as well for AUP. We are going to have 316LN, OFE Copper and Nb used for the project and we'll need all the material to be traceable back to lots. This also requires the 316LN and OFE Copper to be controlled in the inventory, which I think is something new for us. I have a few ideas on how to do it, but need to consult with Mike Dickey more before they are finalized:
1. Upload material certificates into each fabrication/inspection traveler. This is the easiest but least efficient method of doing it, in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend this for any production work that is more than one or two assemblies
2. Raw material is entered into the inventory via INV travelers, which have the material certs uploaded. The material is then assigned an Acronym, like any other part, which can be referenced in a fabrication traveler and traced back to the certs in the INV traveler
3. A hybrid of both these methods
My intent was more to make sure we had a method of tracking raw material other than Nb that doesn't have a specific system in place. I'm sure there are also many other ways we could make this work.
Thanks,
Naeem

Hi Naeem -
My apologizes - I should have put you on the list also since you are taking care of Supplier Management for our ISO Program
Best wishes - Anne

Subject: FW: Material Certs for C75-03 Question
Hello all
Something to consider for the C75 Cavity Traceability - in general for all projects we will need to be able to tie in the material certs to the cavity Serial numbers - this is almost certainly a question that a good auditor would ask , and something our customers will also want to know as well . Typically Mike and Calvin upload the any certs to one of the inventory travelers when parts are received
So to understand it better, I asked Gigi for more details on the C75. I had been able to find the certs in the Inventory traveler - but was not so clear on how to connect them to each cavity SN . From his message , for the C75, It looks like the information is available, and one should be able to connect the cert to each cavity once you understand the code in the SN. I noticed that the Material Certs are not in the C75 Cavity dashboard at the moment . So for future perhaps could we should give it some thought about how we could make it really easy to get to the Material Cert for the cavities each time we are asked (might involve minor changes to the traveler down the road to make programming easier)
Just a suggestion and some food for thought , - and Thanks Gigi for getting back with this information
Best wishes Anne

Hi Anne,
here is what we've been doing since the C75-01:
* the material certs for the ingots used for the cavities are saved in the traveler C75-CAV-INSP-NBI
* the material certs for the Nb bought by the vendor to complete the cavities are on Docushare: https://jlabdoc.jlab.org/docushare/dsweb/View/Collection-43753
* The first two numbers of the half-cells SN are those from the ingot SN so that we know what ingot was used in which cavity
* The cryomodule assembly and testing travelers have the cavity SN that were installed in that module
I hope this satisfies the requirements.
Thanks,
Gigi
