[Pansophy] Busy

Jacob,
If other changes need to be made to the competency traveler, telling us in a meeting is not really how we do things. Since it is a traveler, the practice is for the traveler author to make the changes to the word doc and we go from there. As we are not the authors of the traveler nor are we the Competence ISO process owner, it is not our place to update it.
For a report, as we do for all projects, we ask that an email is sent to pansophy at jlab.org<mailto:pansophy at jlab.org> with what data is requested to be on the report.
To create a batch traveler upload, which we have said is possible, we cannot do so without an example of the data or what form we will be receiving it. I assume it is excel, as discussed, but we are still unaware of the columns that are a part of that.
I don't recall all of this being assigned to us in the meeting on Sept. 2, but I do recall discussing the batch traveler upload and I remember it being a pretty short meeting. We do our best to take notes in meetings but sometimes it is best to email a follow up, especially if there is a lot of work assigned to us as a result of a meeting.
In addition to mine and Valerie's ISO duties, we are working on a multitude of projects at the moment, bringing on new people and students to our team, trying to work on our never ending list of Pansophy improvements and taking care of the errors and needs for our users on the floor, it is inevitable that we will sometimes miss things.

Valerie,
It appears you updated the Competency Traveler/form by deleting the 4 traveler steps I listed as examples in my email. There are other changes to be made, a report to create, and possible batch upload method to develop (all discussed in 02 Sep meeting). Spending time now to work on developing the Competency Record puts the schedule in too much risk, especially when you say you don't have time. I have moved on to using a Word form and will revisit developing a Pansophy form at some later date.

Valerie,
When I clicked the Training link in Pansophy a few days ago, it went to the Pansophy Dev space and said I was not authorized to view this area. Now the link takes me to the production area of Pansophy and I am able to see the Training Traveler. I seems you made some changes (or at the very list changed a link) in the last few days.
You, Megan, and I had a meeting on 02 Sept to discuss the requirements/changes for the Training Traveler form. The Training Traveler that is available now looks the same as it did in 02 Sept. It does not include any of the requested changes we discussed, e.g. delete steps 2, 3, 5a, and 5b. There is no point in asking people to fill out the old version of the Training Traveler, so it doesn't "work".
Putting the "spreadsheet" online was not requested in our 02 Sept meeting. The intent of the Competency Program was to use the spreadsheet in the DocuShare location for organizing Competency, and use the Pansophy traveler for recording Competency.
If we are starting from the original Training Traveler (which is the one showing online), it doesn't make sense to wait weeks longer to get an updated version. Especially true when you don't have time. I am already exploring alternatives.

Jacob,
I do not understand your statement, 'Since the Competency Record Form in Pansophy is out'.
The Training Traveler is still in place and works.
No other requirements have been identified for the "form".
I was working on putting the "spreadsheet" on line, but you didn't want that.

Valerie,
Why is this COMPETENCE (jlab.org)<https://pansophydev.jlab.org/pansophydev/Competence/index.cfm> being prioritized or done? A spreadsheet on DocuShare does all of this and will be used for the foreseeable future. The competency record TRAINING (jlab.org)<https://pansophydev.jlab.org/pansophydev/Training/index.cfm> (which I am no longer permitted to see) was the priority. The request was to greatly simplify what was already created and work with John to create a batch-upload spreadsheet to aid in creating multiple competency records.
A conversation with me, or at least CC'ing me or John, when you paused would have been helpful. I need to find time next week for John and I to meet with you to discuss how to get competency back on track. We still need the Competency Record asap.

Valerie, et. al.,
Since the Competency Record Form in Pansophy is out, I will work with John to develop an alternative. I believe there are no remaining QMS/ISO requests for the Pansophy Team.
