[Pansophy] Datamine export

Thanks for the response. I thought that it would be possible in Excel's options, to just "uncheck" a box or something to force excel to not try to convert formats, but it appears that this is not an option. The leading zero is a good example as well - I've run into that one as well in other reports.
Thanks for the explanation on why my thoughts would not work for the situation. I was trying to think of something that would be minimal disruption - but obviously there is a lot about what goes on "behind the screens" in Pansophy that I don't know about :)
I did point out to Mircea that the PDF export keeps the SN format. He still would like to get the data in Excel though.

Hi Tiffany,
I have been looking into ways to encourage Excel to not auto format serial numbers in general. Many of the serial numbers have leading zeros, which disappear when exported to Excel.
Per your options below.
1. Pretty much everywhere there is an Excel button, we would have to add code to those pages to generate the CSV files. There are a lot of pages that would need modified.
2. The serial numbers are recorded in many database tables. Generally 2 tables for inventory, and any travelers where the corresponding acronym is used (INV, INSP, ASSY, NCR, and any process travelers that may be needed). This would be a cumbersome task, as it would be hand edited.
As I mentioned, I have been looking into a fix for this problem and have a couple of possible solutions to try. It may be sometime in October before I have something working, but I am working on it as time permits.

Subject: [Pansophy] Datamine export
Mircea forwarded me an email asking for help preserving the SN format for SNSPPU FPCs during the datamine export to excel. Some of the FPCSN's have a ##E### format, which excel seems to auto interpret as scientific notation. I cannot find a way to have excel not change the value to scientific notation if it the pansophy automatically opens in excel. Can Pansophy datamine do one of the following?
Option 1: export as a txt (or csv) file. Then when the file is opened in excel, you have the option to format the column as text. This allows the current data to stay as-is.
Option 2: change the FPCSN to "FPC-##?###" (as an example - just adding something ahead of the SN that changes it enough that it doesn't look like a scientific notation number) This may require that the data already entered has to be updated to match.
Thanks,
Tiffany Ganey
