[Pansophy] Pansophy issue - missing data L2HE-VTA-CAV-VTRF missing data from Project Report, James Maniscalco asking for data

Hey Valerie,

I agree, that was certainly a data hiccup. Just out of curiosity, can't you just go with a routine which checks if there is data in the FINAL field and if it is blank/NAN it automatically takes the data from the INIT field?

Cheers,

John V / Adam G,

I have updated all revisions of the traveler and have updated data for R4 and R5.

I have a question about R3 before I copy data.

R2/R3 has step 11 this way: If no extra run is needed then select the checkbox (i.e. copy data from init to final)
[cid:image003.jpg at 01D89DFF.E4DEFD30]

And R4/R5 has step 11 this way: If an additional run is needed then select the checkbox (i.e. DON'T copy data)

[cid:image004.jpg at 01D89DFF.E4DEFD30]

R4/R5 makes more sense in that the tester would select the checkbox (marked as YES) and they enter the final data values.
But R2/R3 said to check the box (marked Yes) is NO additional run is needed and the software would auto copy data.
So, for R2/R3 travelers I am not sure which way the testers marked the box.
I dumped some data while I was validating which travelers needed updated data and you will see that for R2/R3 it is unclear where data should be copied and where not to copy. Can someone please validate what travelers did or didn't have a 2nd run?

Hey Valerie,

We apologize for losing track of the <<NOTE>> indicator while shifting through authors! Please proceed with option 1.

Many thanks in advance,
John V

John / Adam,

This was not stated in R4 and R5 so this was not done.

Authors are required to put a <<NOTE>> to denote that special coding is required by the software group. The processing of travelers is automated where practical, but specialized code, such as this, requires hands-on editing by one of the programmers. If no <<NOTE>> is detected then the traveler is processed as such.

Options:

  1. R4 and R5 can be upgraded to contain the <<NOTE>> code; and data would have to be hand copied for those travelers generated under those revisions from INIT to FINAL fields.
  2. The L2HE Cavity Perf Grid could be upgraded to display both INIT and FINAL fields; this will make the grid larger and may show duplicated data, but can be done.

Hey Valerie,

There is a check box at the very end of page 4 for additional power rises. If that one is not checked, we should provide the INIT data. So, in a nutshell, the note is still true for R4 & R5.

Importance: High

Adam / John,

So I did some more searching and found that Kirk Davis authored R1, Tiffany authored R2 and R3, and Adam G authored R4 and R5.

R2 and R3 had a <<NOTE>> which requested that if an additional run was not required, then automatically copy data from INIT fields into FINAL fields (pg 4 & 5).

The auto copy of data, done with special code put in by Megan McDonald, was not done for R4 & R5.

The L2HE Project area cavity report grid only displays the FINAL fields.
James from SLAC can't see the INIT fields.

I need direction on how to proceed to help James.
Was there a reason that the note was not required?
Do we need to display both INIT and FINAL data?
Does the report for L2HE need to be updated?

Please advise.
Thank You

Subject: [Pansophy] Fw: Pansophy issue - missing data

All data that was in the database was copied to the fields in questions from earlier email.

No other fields were modified/changed.

Who can validate that data was actually put into these fields by the VTA testers?

Valerie

Hi Valerie,

Thanks for looking into this. Looks like it is mostly fixed but there is still a problem. Many of the fields are still empty on a lot of rows in the table - in particular the E field of FE onset, quench field, final Q0, and final radiation strength, as well as the performance comment and multipacting comment. Please see the red circles below.

Can you please look into this?

Thank you!

James

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Pansophy issue - missing data

Hello,

It looks like there is a problem with the external projects portal again. For most of the travelers in the L2HE Cavity Performance Grid, the "PerformanceLimit...", "PerformLimit...", "CavityPerf...", "Multipacting...", "final_Eacc...", and "RF_TEST_PROCESSED..." fields are not being populated properly. Please see below.

Is this something you can fix? If I recall, this happened in the past after a revision that changed some field names in the traveler.

Thank you!

James
