Subject: Suggestion for future projects
Hello Ed & Joe
An idea for the future , where we are not responsible for the procurement would be to tell the TR add to the travelers the supplier name(s) , so that we have a better record in future to be used in supplier selections – and something where past quality could be connected to the suppliers more directly
As an example, as far as I know we don’t have a good record for which supplier(s) did the plating of the L2/HE components – this is only one example
Best wishes
Anne

Yes, good suggestion. Maybe suggest to Ed/Joe M for EIC.

Thanks again – it would have been nice to have a record , perhaps in the travelers for which company did the plating , would have given us a better record for future of our experience with the platers – and might help with supplier selection in the future
Best wishes
Anne

Well, I can confirm that AJ Tuck plated the BPM housings for HE. If you want details on the contract or the quality, Andrei Lunin at FNAL was the SOTR. Josh Kaluzny or Tug Arkan can also provide info. Michelle Oast was the JLab co-SOTR working with Andrei.
As I recall, there were some minor issues and some parts had to be replated. Michelle may remember more details. I can't remember what the initial problems were will Epner.

Thanks Katherine
Is there someone at Fermi who can confirm this –
I am interested only because we are putting a lot of effort into qualifying plating suppliers for CEBAF components . We have had (and will need to do) a lot of plating inspections – it would be nice to know which supplier did the plating on the different L2 & HE parts even if we were not directly responsible for the sourcing on that project – we have lots of records building up in the travelers on the quality of plating from these different suppliers

Nomura in Japan plated all of the L2 and HE beamline bellows. I don’t remember that Tuck plated anything for JLab for L2 or HE. Tuck ended up plating the BPMs (FNAL contract) on HE only (someone in Europe did it on L2) after issues with Epner. We were only loosely involved since it was a FNAL contract.

Hi Katherine
Could you confirm which company or companies plated the HE bellows etc?
Tom H. told me that AJ Tuck plated a significant quantity having been brought in by Ability and Fermi after the initial plater did not work out, however Naeem told me they did not plate bellows rather they plated one of the other beam line components (a much smaller quantity)
Thanks Anne
