[Pansophy] Cavity serial numbers for L2HE - Renumbering of old cavities Obsoleting of old numbers - CAN'T BE DONE

All,

When Mike and I met with them before the holiday. They explained that they are treating these cavities as if they are new and they were told that traceability would not be "clean". (i.e there would be a break in the chain of traceability to the old data). Basically somebody 10 or 20 years from now would have to know (remember) that the cavities have a new and old Acronyms and match it up with the 3 digit SN if they really want to research old traceability data.

We (Primes) said we could accommodate it, but this may be a problem for Pansophy /traveler team.

>From an ISO standpoint. If the cavities are really being treated as if they are new cavities then I am ok with it, I do understand their (John and Adam) logic.

Phil

Phil / Tony / Kirk,

I received this request from Adam Grabowski and John Vennekate.

Short story:

9 cavities were returned to vendor. 6 are here and getting ready to be put back into inventory. 3 more are at vendor coming soon.

Request is to change CAVSNs from HE-CAVR078 to HE-CAV4078-RT and to OBSOLETE the old numbers.

This can’t be done under the current system!

If the old SNs are obsoleted they will no longer be available in all of our reports/status boards.

As well as the travelers they were initially processed under will no longer show their selected values.

This will cause a loss of traceability for the component.

The system is setup to handle this sort of thing through the use of NCRs and D3s.

I don’t understand the reasoning behind changing serial numbers.

There are plans underway to upgrade the Pansophy system Acronyms and Serial numbers processes (both Travelers and PRIMeS).

But until such time, the current system should be utilized by submitting NCRs/D3s.

The INV traveler receiving the CAVSNs could annotate the changes made at the vendor.

Please advise ASAP!!

I need to reply to Adam/John.

Valerie,

We had a meeting before the holiday break to discuss this issue. We need to get this sorted out in the next day or two because we need to start work on these items. These serial numbers need to be updated for the HE cavity INV travelers. Can Mike just redo the incoming INV travelers to reflect the updated serial numbers as indicated below? Then the ones without the suffix would need to be deleted. The second part of this is that we would like to not have the old serial numbers show up in any new Traveler drop down menus, can that be done?

HE-CAVR078-RT

HE-CAVR086-RT

HE-CAVR094-RT

HE-CAVR105-RT

HE-CAVR108-RP

HE-CAVR110-RT

Thanks,

Some meeting notes.

-Need traceability of old and new cavities. Needs to conform with ISO standards.

-Lock out old serial numbers from being used in newly instantiated travelers. Valerie, can we do this? Only the new numbers should be an option when instantiating or adding components to an assembly.

-Mark cavities with new RT/RP markings, marker for now? John V.

-John will also contact RI about marking the remaining 3 cavities before they ship to us.

-Inventory will re-INV the new cavities with RT/RP added to the serial number as required.

Thanks all, happy holidays,
