Mike and Phil,

Thank you for walking Chase and me through the interface and setup for PRIMeS this morning. We'll likely come back to you once we define our assembly process in the next few months.

Regards,
Sarin

Hi Katherine,

We do have a traveler for EICMAG-GRDR-RECV, with the most recent use being 11-Mar-2024, with 130 travelers. The abstract for this traveler is “This traveler is to be used for the receiving process associated with the APS quad girder deliveries from ANL.” However this traveler is not tied into the PRIMeS system.

I can provide an introduction to PRIMeS and training if needed.

We had some intern this summer that helped get an internal barcode scanning process into Pansophy that helps to locate travelers for inspections, leak test, and other operations. The software also interacts with PRIMeS by updating the database location where the part was scanned.

We currently do not have a cell phone app, but we are looking into the possibility of making one.

Let me know if you want to schedule a meeting or have any questions.

Subject: inventory

Hi Mike and Tony,

Can we discuss the possibility of using Primes to track inventory of EIC magnets? We expect hundreds of them to pass through JLab over the course of the project, and possibly associated hardware as well. We need a system better than spreadsheets, and thought it might be most efficient to use the system that already exists.

I am mostly on travel until after Thanksgiving, but I wanted to run the question past you so you could think about the feasibility. Maybe we can discuss in more detail later.

If you have a presentation on how Primes works, maybe you could send it to Sarin? I'm not sure how familiar he is with the system.

Just FYI as a point of interest - I was just at LBNL and discussed their inventory software. They use EZOffice, a commercial software package. The really nice feature it has is that it comes with a phone app, so they put QR codes on all hardware, and they can scan them with their phones to access the info. The really bad feature of the system is that it does not support building kit lists, so they have to build a kit list manually in Windchill every time they build an assembly to link individual part serial numbers with an assembly serial number.

Thanks,
Katherine
