All,

                The below file that lives in the location below is in needing of an update. The table needs a background color. The way it currently is you cannot read the section titles on the new SWISS layout. I did a test on the file and it looked fine but it gets copied over from another location and my changes don’t stay. Can the source file that the one on the site drive is copied from be updated with the red code below in the table tag to give it a white background please. I believe it’s on an SRF server behind the fence which is why we had to have the file copied to the site drive.

Copied File:

CM_Locations_SWISS.cfm

Location file is copied to:

\\jlabsite\site\www\html\div_dept\swis\srf<file://jlabsite/site/www/html/div_dept/swis/srf>

Code to update:

<div id="makeAbs">

                                <table border="1" style="background-color: #FFFFFF:">

Thank you,

Dave

Oh thank you for the nudge. I recommend you all do it exactly like we did the accelerator status – make a copy of the entire page/html on www.jlab.org<http://www.jlab.org> and point REACH to that page. Use a scheduled job/cron to keep the page up to date. I recommend this option in this case and all similar future cases.

Almost surely, the SWIS screens are on a restricted network without access to the accelerator site so option #1 will take a lot of work to identify and implement firewall changes, and end up with a reduced overall security posture. I do not recommend.

Thanks!

Kari

All,

                I am working with the SRF folks to create a similar function as this link to show data on the SWIS screens: https://www.jlab.org/div_dept/swis/. Meghan and I had a quick call today and I need some other input to help us get through this issue and know if any of the solutions we came up with will work or not. We’re also open to any other ideas to make this happen. Quick background – pansophy is a home grown software system for tracking where cryomodules are located throughout the lab and storage locations. It was determined that this information would be very useful to have displayed at specific SWISS locations. The problem is the firewall.

So the two possible solutions we came up with are:

#1 – sending embed code to the REACH folks (vendor for the SWIS systems) to pull the web page of data but this page is only available on site so my questions is. Is the SWISS network totally separate from the jlab network where the SWISS systems will still not be able to pull the web page even though the systems are located on the jlab site - physically being on the jlab site will they still be able access and display this page? Link to this page is in the embed code below.

<embed type="text/html" src="https://pansophy.jlab.org/pansophy/Facilities/CM_Locations_SWISS.cfm"<https://pansophy.jlab.org/pansophy/Facilities/CM_Locations_SWISS.cfm%22> width="500" height="200">

#2 – scrape the web page form the embed link above and save it to the location below that is accessible off site. Scraping rather than copying the file keeps the javascript data intact on the page. I viewed the source of the page and saved it here along with the images it uses: https://www.jlab.org/div_dept/swis/srf/CM_Locations_SWISS.cfm

Thank you all and Happy Independence Day :)
