[Pansophy] SNs for L2RB cavities

Hi Mike,
That's what I was trying to say. Cavity 0106 is in a string at SLAC, while we just tested cavity R106, formerly an L2HE cavity. Only L2RB-CAV0167 and -0140 are old L2 cavities (at this point in time), hence the leading 0. This is also engraved on each cavity, meaning, you will find an R106 there for example. And to my knowledge, you did NOT use four digits for the HE-R-cavities but three i.e. HE-R106.
Thanks for the help, Mike!
Best,
John V

Hi John,
I'm not sure what happened with (HE-R)0106, but cavity 0106 is in J1.3-08 at SLAC. I will work with the Pansophy team to get the serial numbers straightened out. The basic format for the project(s) cavities are as follows, using 0106 as an example.
L2PRD: 0106
L2HE: HE-R0106 (due to duplicate serial numbers starting with 0001 again, HE-R prefix was added in the database)
L2RB: RB-R0106 (if applicable)
The serial number designations should not change, especially if a cavity is transferred to another project.

Hi Mike,
All cavities mentioned below are "R&R" cases. There will be an additional 20 brand new cavities from RI later this year and next for L2RB.
The reason I reached out is exactly about traceability. Feel free to drop the L2RB in your SN in Pansophy, however, you can't call those cavities 0XXX if they are repurposed L2HE cavities, otherwise you would mix them up with L2 cavities.
Just as a simple example, L2RB-CAVR106 just had its successful VTA test. In the corresponding traveler (and the inspection travelers before) it is listed as "0106". The L2 project should have had an 0106 before and that one is not this cavity, but the one R106 of L2HE. Does that make sense?
Best,
John V

Hi John,
Will the "to be delivered" cavities be NEW or REPORPOSED & REPROCESSED cavities. I am concerned about traceability for datamining inspection and processing data if the need arises. The L2RB redesignation will hide the cavities origin causing a potential loss critical data.

Subject: SNs for L2RB cavities
Hi Mike,
I've caught a slight discrepancy in the SN numbers for the new L2RB cavities in the system. Overall, I suggest replacing the "HE" in "HE-CAVRXXX" with "L2RB".
However, we need to distinguish between former L2 and L2HE (production) cavities. The way this is done is that the L2 cavities have a leading 0 while the L2HE cavities have an R.
Currently, this mostly affects the two reuse cavities from L2-J11. Those are L2RB-CAV0167 and L2RB-CAV0140. I want to make sure to avoid any confusion with HE cavities CAVR140 and CAVR167.
Beyond those, we either got in house or are expecting:
* L2RB-CAVR023 (to be delivered)
* L2RB-CAVR036 (to be delivered)
* L2RB-CAVR043
* L2RB-CAVR049
* L2RB-CAVR094
* L2RB-CAVR106
* L2RB-CAVR113
* L2RB-CAVR132 (to be delivered)
* L2RB-CAVR135
* L2RB-CAVR138 (to be delivered)
* L2RB-CAVR147 (to be delivered)
* L2RB-CAVR198 (to be delivered)
* L2RB-CAVR200 (to be delivered)
As of now, the L2RB traveler SN selection lists those all with a leading 0. We should correct this to avoid confusion with old L2 cavities. Would it be possible for you and the @pansophy<mailto:pansophy at jlab.org> team to fix that?
Best,
John V
