Unfortunately, the LINUX and ORACLE database systems don't like using "R-" or just "-" as field indicators and file names. So, we opted to start with R1 as being the first revision of a document. R2, indicates a second revision, and so on. I realize this is
different from Doc Repo and drawing nomenclature in ENGR, but it is what we could do for our system.</div>

I'm curious as to why the first version of travelers are designated as revision R1. The first version of a document would normally be R-, since no revision. A revision is used to designate a change to an approved document.<br>
