researchers know to search multiple projects, not just the first one they find, they will get a full picture of the parts history and data.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Consolas;color:#1F497D">This is not the case for ALL parts, especially cavities. For each project, cavity serial numbers start with some version of 1 (one), usually prefixed with 2 or 3 zeros.
If someone runs a query (as I have) for serial numbers containing “001” they would find 23 records (many serial numbers are prefixed with “project names” due to the DUPLICATION of serial numbers).

can never be used by another project without creating data confusion? Is there a way to identify a part without using “project name” to make it unique; or create a Part ID alias so the “project name” element can be changed without losing its tie to the previously
assigned “project name”?<o:p></o:p></p>
