Dear PEPPo Collaborator:

Activities are already underway in preparation for the installation of
the experimental apparatus later this summer. This means work is going
on both at surface level in the Injector Service Building (ISB) and
tunnel level in the injector region of the accelerator enclosure. You
will begin to receive regular installation updates about new or
on-going activities. You should read these and ask questions if you
are unclear. Presently, a handful of us are in a position to be
working in these areas, but at the summer progresses many more
collaborators will be in this position.

1. Cable Penetrations Opened - Two cable-way
penetrations which connect the ISB to the tunnel at locations IN02B23
& IN02B24 were opened today, meaning the stones which fill the
penetration have been dumped out of each preparation in preparation for
pulling new cables (HV, signal, magnet, etc) through them. For the
duration these penetrations are open the work area around and above the
racks is elevated from ODH-0 to ODH-1. For those who already have
Oxygen Deficiency Hazard (ODH) training, this means the two-person
buddy-rule is in effect. Signs have been placed to define the area and
an ODH monitor has been placed above the region, and will be activated
Thursday morning 6/2. As usual, if the ODH system ever goes into alarm
(blue beacon & horn) you must exit the building. If this doesn't
make sense to you then you probably haven't taken ODH training, so you
shouldn't yet be working in this area.

2. Work Area Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - The
injector accelerator enclosure downstream of the cryounit (plastic
curtain) is now an installation area. Personnel in this area should
wear closed shoes (no sandals) and pants (no shorts). In addition, it
is recommended that those working below the open penetrations wear
safety glasses and hardhats as small stones and or materials can drop
from the surface level to the tunnel level.

3. Injector Walkway Installation Planned Next Week June 6th
- The new injector platform at the injector accelerator enclosure is on
track for installation next week and will last 2-3 days. During the
installation please pay attention to any posted signs. The task
includes a significant amount of drilling and hammering, with some dust
and noise. During these activities avoid the work area if possible.
