Eric,
I am not opposed to moving it out of the abstract. The
sentence was placed after the sentences that describe what we plan
to do with Peppo and before the sentences that describe what will
happen after the experiment.

The insertion of this sentence does make the abstract flow rather
jerky. The flow can be improved by removing the sentence that
starts with "Following the demonstration....." Which I think
makes more sense since we never discuss what we will do following
the experiment in the proposal. New abstract:

We propose to develop and install on the CEBAF injector
a beamline and instrumentation
appropriate for exploring the feasibility of a new approach for a
source
of polarized positrons: the transfer of polarization from an
intense electron beam
to positrons by a two-step process (bremsstrahlung followed by
pair production) in
a single target. Such a source would be an important enhancement
of the scientific
reach of the 12 GeV Upgrade, and has other uses ranging from high
energy to condensed
matter physics. This proposal requests two weeks of beam time
utilizing the
CEBAF injector which if scheduled during the first two weeks of
the 12 GeV CEBAF
upgrade down will not impact the presently scheduled physics
program but will require
the CEBAF upgrade planning to include provisions for continued
operations
in the CEBAF injector for the first two weeks of the twelve month
shutdown.

I had additional sentences on scheduling in the first paragraph of
the Peppo run plan section (as you suggest) that are not in this
latest release. Not sure if this omission was an oversight or Larry
felt it was redundant given the inclusion in the abstract.
I just want to share this comment with you and take appropriate
action if everybody agrees.

The text about the 12MSD is perfect but I find it a bit
destructive in the abstract context, Especially
talking right after about future other experiments etc... I would
prefer to give the reader the
opportuntity to be convinced after some pages of the proposal, and
then put the hammer on the

table with the scheduling issue, better than putting the hammer on
his head at the first lines.

Maybe my paranoia...

So I would propose to move that part of the text from the abstract
to the very first paragraph of the
PEPPo run plan.

Would you agree ? Eric
