The accelerator facility of Jefferson Laboratory
(JLab) is important for its high polarized</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">electron beam. With
the upgrade it will be able to
produce and accelerate polarized electrons</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">up to 12 GeV for
nuclear studies.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">A future benefit could
be represented by the
availability of a new source of particles: positrons.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">They will help to
deeply investigate the hadronic
structure and especially the Generalized</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">Parton Distributions
(GPDs) dependence on spin and
charge.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">From the idea to
convert electrons into positrons
via two–step process, an amazing experiment</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">is under construction
at JLab: the PEPPo experiment.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">The Polarized
Electrons for Polarized Positrons
(PEPPo) experiment takes advantage from the</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">two polarization
sensitive processes, bremsstrahlung
and pair production, to generate polarized</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">positrons. The energy
dependence of the polarization
transfer from 6.3 MeV longitudinally</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">polarized electrons to
longitudinally polarized
positrons is under concern.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height:
normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">Simulation,
construction and characterization of the
experimental apparatus are progressing</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New
Roman","serif";">and we
will discuss the current status of the operations.</span></p>
