[Pi0tff] [PRad] HyCal test plan this week

Hi Eugene,
What I wanted to say in my previous email is the following (in a more
opened up manner:
1) the Hycal "repair" work needs very specific knowledge of all elements
of the detector. The last three experiments reached the highest
accuracy since we did prepare the HyCal in a perfect form with
minimizing any risk of harming the detector.
2) The first question on our way is to (a) identify the HyCal upgrade
level (not the FADC and DAQ). From this depends what and WHEN we
have to start work on HyCal (example, if we get funds for PbWO4 then
Hycal will need to disassemble and reassemble again); (b) what is the
sequence of running the approved experiments? This can be done only
in this Fall with the Hall B and Physics Division leaders.
Just to remind the HyCal needs for our experiments:
a) PRad-II, needs HyCal upgrade (partial or full);
b) X17_search, does not need HyCal upgrade (it was designed like that
to run earlier. Will benefit fron the upgraded HyCal, for sure).
c) pi0 TTF, different statements on HyCal, needs a final statement)
d) DRad (if approved today), can run with the current HyCal, will
benefit highly from upgraded HyCal.
I hope, it is clear that in this condition the decision from the Physics
Division and Hall B.
If No HyCal upgrade then testing HyCal modules from cosmic rays needs
few months of time only. If UPGRADE, then we need to start from tomorrow.
(wait any signal from NSF).
Hope I made myself clear on this part.
Best,
Ashot
