<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Hey Targeteers,</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">For a variety of
reasons, there will not be a target meeting tomorrow, Thursday
March 5. For those interested, here's a quick update:<br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif"><br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">- James Brock has been
analyzing the refrigerator performance from the last cool-down.
He'll give an update at the next meeting, in April.</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">- The techs have been
transferring various electronics and gas piping from standard
19" racks in the EEL onto the upper portion of the target cart
that will be utilized in Hall B. Our plan is to mount the
refrigerator onto this cart in the coming weeks and use it
during the next cool-down this summer;</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">- The Target Group's
new designer, Casey Flanagan, is working on the lower portion of
the target cart. This is where all the vacuum pumps and vacuum
piping for the target will reside. Once the design is complete,
we'll start fabrication;</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">- Hai Dong is designing
and programming a new FPGA-based control/amplifier board for the
next generation NMR q-meter. This should be ready for the next
cool-down in the summer;</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">- Victoria discovered
why the FROST solenoid has quenched during the last two
cool-downs: a ramp rate programmed into its power supply was
slightly too high;</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">- Victoria is using
OPERA to model NMR coils. Hopefully, the "optimal" coil(s) will
be ready for the summer tests;<br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">- A significant number
of cryostat parts are under design by James Brock. These will
replace the prototypes that have been used for our EEL tests,
and are required to actually use the system in Hall B;<br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">- Members of the RGC
collaboration are working furiously to decide the optimum target
length for the first round of experiments. The deadline for
this decision is October 1, 2020. <br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">- Marco B. formed a
"Hall B Polarized Target Taskforce" consisting of Eugene Pasyuk,
Volker Burkert, Bob Miller, Xiangdong Wei, James Maxwell, and
myself. We held the first meeting on Monday. The deliverable
will be a two-page report detailing the status of the
longitudinal ammonia target, polarized gas 3He target,
transverse HDice, and possible substitutes for the latter.<br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif"><br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">I think that's it. <br>
</font></p>
