Dear DNP members,

I hope this email finds you all safe and healthy, in this time of COVID-19 and civil unrest.

The DNP is currently planning for the annual Fall meeting, DNP20, which is usually held in the month of October. This year, the meeting is planned for the Hyatt in downtown New Orleans, October 29 – November 1. Considering the uncertainty of holding large in-person meetings in the fall, the DNP may be forced to consider the option of a virtual meeting. The APS April Meeting 2020 was held as a virtual meeting, and many people felt that this was a success.

We hope that a robust DNP20 meeting can be held whether it is in-person or virtual. The deadline for DNP20 abstracts is Friday, June 26, 2020

Since a virtual meeting will be less expensive to attend, without travel costs, some DNP members have indicated that they would encourage more students to submit abstracts to a virtual meeting. In order to allow maximum flexibility in submitting an abstract and be able to build an accurate program we are asking you to provide some additional information during the abstract submission process.

Please check the appropriate box during abstract submission:

  1.  Virtual meeting only
  2.  In-person meeting only
  3.  Either virtual or in-person OK
We will announce in a later email the decision of a virtual or in-person meeting. Abstracts will be included based upon the box checked during abstract submission.

The cost of the April virtual meeting was covered by APS reserves (no individual registration fee was charged). The DNP does not have sufficient funds to run a virtual meeting for free, so a small registration fee will be needed. There are real costs to hold a virtual meeting, including collecting/sorting online abstracts, technical support for speakers, and registration processing.

Please bear with us during the uncertainty of these times. We hope that the above information will encourage you to consider submitting a DNP20 abstract.
