Dear PREX-ers,
All the targets have been installed, surveyed and aligned in the target chamber. The target chamber will be pumped overnight and 15 K He cool down is scheduled for tomorrow morning. If all goes well we should have a target cold and ready by sometime in the afternoon tomorrow, Jun 19.
I'm tentatively scheduling a first target operator (TO) lecture/practical for tomorrow at 2pm in the Hall A Counting House. If you have signed up for TO shifts for the first few days up to the first week of prex2 running please plan to attend. In principle, anyone interested in prex2 TO training is welcomed to attend up to the capacity of the Hall A Counting House, for the first lecture/practical. Subsequent lectures/practicals will be scheduled as needed to train all who have signed up for prex2 TO shifts.
As a reminder, to be able to take TO shifts for prex2/crex you have to be target trained. Prex2/crex target training consists of two steps, step one: a lecture/practical with me (for now) on a cold target and step two: shadowing a trained TO for half a shift to get accustomed with target procedures/monitoring. Shadowing will be waived for the first few days of running until we build a critical mass of TOs. Once you complete the two steps email me about it and you'll be a trained TO for prex2/crex. Aside from the TO training you should read and sign the Yellow Binder in the Hall A Counting House (required to take any shifts for prex2/crex).
Before your TO lecture/practical please read the prex2/crex OSP, posted at:
https://hallaweb.jlab.org/index/safety-docs/current/Target_OSP.pdf
If the prex2 target cool down schedule changes we'll reschedule the first lecture accordingly and send an announcement once the dust settles. If you have any questions related to the prex2/crex target or the TO training please email me,
Kind Regards,
Silviu
