Hi Igal,
We are using the BCAL calorimeter to veto any recoiled particle
that are in time with the two photon timing. That is to minimize
the any possible inelastic production of eta-meson from the target
4He nuclei. The elastically recoiled 4He nucleus can not pass the
target and reach the BCAL (very low energies).
So, in order to make a reasonable cut level the BCAL has to have some
level of calibration. It can even be a very rough calibration but, it
needs to be calibrated.
