Dear All,
As we have no presentations planned for today’s meeting, and due to the proximity to the July 4th holiday, I propose that we cancel today’s PrimEx meeting in order to focus our time and efforts on producing some results. Please let me know if there’s any objection to this, or if anyone has a pressing matter to discuss.
As for a brief update to add to last week’s meeting:
* Richard updated the e+e- pair production generator that he built into hdgeant4 for atomic nuclei. Using his generator, the cross section for pair and triplet production on Beryllium is within 5% of the NIST tables. I am currently producing a large sample of pairs to replace the previous simulation I used in the Compton analysis, which I expect will provide a milder dependence of the extracted Compton scattering cross section on the elasticity cut. I am also running a comparison using just geant4 to produce e+e- pairs by shooting photons on the target and only recording the events where the first interaction in the target was e+e- pair production. I will show this comparison next week when I have more results.
* Igal is working to correct a number of technical issues in the simulation for the Lead target (CPP data). Whenever those simulations are ready, we will be able to compare the pi0 angular distribution between data and simulation in order to study/tune the angular resolution of the FCAL.
Best Regards,
Drew
