[Rec_bball] Jlab basketball Winter 2009/2010

Hi Bballers,

Paul Mattione and I are hoping to establish a Jlab bball team to play in
the Newport News rec league for the upcoming winter season.  Jlab has
played in this winter league over the past two years with many of you on
the team.  The start of the season is rapidly approaching and we are
scrambling to procure serious player commitments from you guys and
sposorship from the the Jlab Activities Group.  If we can do this by the
end of this week and it is not too late to signup, we will join the
league.  It looks like with Paul's help, we may already have a few
committed players.  As in the past, we would like to keep the roster
limited to about 10 or so committed players.  So if you're seriously
interested, send me (mcnulty at jlab.org) an email to let me know.  If all
goes well, we are tentatively planning to have a meeting / signup /
practice this Friday at 6pm at a location to be announced.

 In the event that we have an excessive number of serious players
interested (probably not likely, but I thought I should mention it), the
roster will be filled on a first come first served basis and will have to
be cutoff at some point (just beyond 10 players or so), so consider the
offer and let me know as soon as your ready.

 Again, we are looking for players that will be able to show up to 90+% of
the games.  As in previous years there are about 12 or 13 games between
early Dec and mid Feb.  These games are on a Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs
schedule and sometimes there are two, one, or no games each week; the
games last about an hour and start at either 6:30, 7:30, or 8:30pm at the
Julie Conn Gymnasium in downtown Newport News.

 Also, this is very important:  If you are not going to join the team this
season and have an old jersey, please return it to me.  You can put it in
my mail box next to my office (room A102) in the Cebaf Center A-wing. 
These jerseys are expensive and take a lot of time to order (time we don't
have), so please return them as soon as you can.
