Hello JLab bikers, especially tall guys,

Since leaving Virginia in July 2006, I have not been contact with any other rider, who is taller than 6'2". Please to review the message below, which was addressed to new acquaintances in my current local area. I request low cost ideas to ease lower back pain, which I attribute to lack of flexibility. Until age 32, I was always very skinny, especially as a teenager. From a standing position with feet together, I can't bend my back more than 45 degrees. With my long arms, I have been able to conduct the standard toe touch exercise since age 10, which puzzled the navy's physical fitness evaluators when my age was 24. Some of you know that biking replaced basketball was my preferred form of exercise, due to consider over knee and ankle health.

Thanks!

This morning (13Jul13) the weather was excellent for bike riding. The last 30 of 35.4 miles was a slow solo ride. My goal is to gradually improve my general physical condition. Today, I started with a group of local serious riders, who had different goals than me. It was my first ride since 29Jun13. Since childhood, I never had much flexibility in my lower back. To ease the back pain, I need to adjust my 6'4" biking posture, but my seat post and handle bars are at the limits of the range of adjustment. Given my casual riding goals, I am unwilling to buy a new road bike with a better fitting frame and a wide range of gears. Based upon a recent suggestion, I briefly viewed the web site for an America bike manufacturer, which designs bikes for tall Americans (i.e. not the medium height Europeans). I suffered from sticker shock. After the kids complete college, I may reconsider a new road bike as a self reward. Although my wife prefers long walks, I may replace her old touring bike with road bike. Based upon experience from a decade ago, I will depend upon my slow improvement in fitness to ease back pain.
