If this op-ed piece from a few weeks ago doesn't get you on your bike,

perhaps some friendly competition amongst your co-workers will do the
trick. Fall 2014 will mark the third year of the "Fall Cycling
Commute Challenge" otherwise internationally known as the FCCC. Last
years winners were Dave Douglas with 1680 miles commuted and Mat Wright
who achieved a 93.2% consistency. For being first, the winners got
absolutely nothing, other than the right to chide the Jlab cycling
community as a bunch of slackers. Last years results are captured at:

A few rule changes this year:

 1. This will truly be a *Fall* challenge, it will start on the Fall
equinox and end on the Winter's solstice:
     1. Start: Monday Sept. 22
     2. End: Friday Dec 19 (winter solstice is on Sunday Dec 21)
 2. The *Mat Wright Rule*: A new no penalty day, this will only impact
    those striving for maximum consistency
     1. *Medical excuse*: If you cannot commute to work due to a
medical issue you can flag that day as a ME or NS. That day
will not be counted against you in tabulating the overall
        consistency. For example:
         1. You wish to donate blood and feel uncomfortable commuting
home after loosing a pint. You may mark the whole day as a
            NS or ME.
         2. You crash into the back of park car, doctor says you have a
mild concussion so stay off the bike for week. That week of
not cycling will not be held against you.

The new active google doc spread sheet can be found at:

The 2013 rules (to be updated soon) can be found at:

If you did not participate in 2013 and wish to do so this year, please
send me you google email address so you can edit your daily
spreadsheet. I'm in the process of bring this year spreadsheet into
operational form, so do not be alarmed if it doesn't quite seem right yet.
