I believe we are trying to promote two completely separate things
here. (1) Encourage people to ride to work. (2) To encourage
people to ride their bikes.<br>
I like the idea of having three separate challenges. I think that
most miles ridden should be open to anyone riding a bike. Therefore
anyone riding during lunch or on the weekend will get credit. Most
days is an exciting challenge for people who bought homes close to
lab to reduce their overall emissions and they (me) should not be
penalized for living close to work. Fraction of days is an
interesting challenge where I believe should encompass every trip to
the lab that includes getting called in as well as working on the
weekend or just stopping by the lab for a couple of minutes. I
think that people should also count any time they are in a car to
and from the Lab, making people count going to lunch with someone
who does the driving. I believe that the highest fraction challenge
is to see how dedicated people are in reducing their total
emissions. i think that I am not as dedicate as I do not take any
extra time to bike in when called in for operations and I like
getting people to drive me to lunch when they may have optioned out
to go to the cafeteria.<br>
Also, I would be more than glad to help set up the web page. Maybe
we can use a goggle spreadsheet.<br>

You hit the bell with your questions/comments. I was going
to put together a website over break and into January for Jlab
bike commute effort. I was thinking of having different aspects
for the spring challenges, as you suggest: <br>

<p>Not so sure of the fitness challenge, since the goal is to

resurrecting the "Summer Points Series", ask Matt about it.<br>

While we are not quite at the Winter Break, the final results have been tallied. Darrell and Mat tied with 78 commuting days out of 82 total days. One of the more interesting fact is that on only one occasion did one of us drive a car to work. The bulk of the missed days were Vacation, Travel or Sick.
Anyway, I thought I'd share this with the bike email list. Perhaps we should hold a Spring Commute Challenge and open it up to the whole lab? Get JAG to throw in some nice prizes? How about May bike to work month?
