Usually I make it to Thanksgiving before resorting to two layers of
clothing on the legs and three on the upper body. Not this year.
After experiencing a brisk ride home in shorts on Tuesday evening
into a driving head wind mixed with sleet and snow, I've been
layering it up in the morning. 25F this morning, actually feels
good when you are appropriately dressed. A few of us are still
    riding,

A sobering piece in the NYtimes this week:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/10/opinion/sunday/is-it-ok-to-kill-cyclists.html?_r=0
The antidote to that piece you might want to read:

Actually, not really an antidote, since cyclists end up dead in
both books. Still, well written books about cycling in two
      different eras and cultures.
