[Rgc] Fwd: [EXTERNAL] additional info on RGC

Dear all,

I JUST received this feedback from a PAC member (presumably our reader?) for the RG-C jeopardy review. It should be obvious that this kind of information cannot be produced in time with 48 hours to go, but I am asking all of you if you have any studies that you can quote/summarize in 1 slide for your favorite channel to address her question.

I can probably dig up the JAM study we did way back when we looked at increasing the time approved for deuterium for the inclusive channels. So I’ll cook something up about that. I can also look at the W results, but I am pretty sure that they will have minimal overlap with the region x = 0.1…0.8 where our data will have the highest impact. For DVCS, it might be good if we had a comparison how the polarized target data improve on what we can extract with unpolarized target only.

Chris, maybe it would be helpful to have a 1-slide schedule for the remaining target work. I believe we should stick with “dress rehearsal Fall 2021” as the present accelerator schedule shows other experiments running until October next year anyway. Then we can say that we will be ready to install ANYTIME right after that.

I believe the issue with “SR” (she probably means synchrotron radiation) is a red herring as the target field is along the beam direction and the beam, even if rastered, will be parallel to the z-axes.

Anyway, I’m looking for updating my slides this afternoon (mostly with backup slides to address these questions) so ANY feedback you can give me until, say, 2 p.m. today would be MUCH appreciated.

- Sebastian

Dear Sebastian,

I hope all is well with you and your loved ones in this crazy times.
I’m looking for some additional information for the RGC measurements.
Can you provide me with impact studies on the different measurements to constrain the helicity quark distributions,
TMDs and GPDs. I’m looking for studies like done for the EIC were pseudo-data of the experiment are integrated in a PDF fit/extraction.
For all of this impact studies it would be nice to have them based on modern PDFs, especially for the helicity PDFs the RHIC W data should be included.

In addition I would like to see a schedule for the target construction, to understand if really everything is include the experiment could run in 2021.
And last but not least, you discuss in detail the moeller background, but I’m surprised there is no discussion about SR
with a 5 T magnet and a beam, which is rastered, can you give me please some details on this.

Thanks for any information you can provide
elke
