Dear spokespersons and Physics specialists on RG-C,
please take a look at Rafo’s slides (link attached). As you can see, with a nominal cut of Q2 > 1.2 for outbending particles (positrons in the present torus configuration), triggers from particles below 10 degrees and 2 GeV momentum are reduced (central plot on slide 4), although not entirely cut out (see also slide 5). On the other hand, the overall reduction in trigger rate by including this cut is quite modest, around 10%. We will take some more data with higher thresholds (Q2 = 1.5, 1.8 and 2 GeV^2) and repeat this analysis, to look at the efficiency of the trigger as a function of positron kinematics. Meanwhile, it would be useful if those who want to trigger on outbending particles for their specific Physics channels would prepare an argument as to how much we can cut at low theta and momentum, preferably with some corroborating information. Keep in mind that we are NOT removing those particles from events that are triggered by electrons; only that they would not, by themselves, trigger an event. In any case, for now (and most likely for the rest of the FTon part of the experiment), we will not implement roads in the main trigger - i.e., all these “positrons" would still trigger an event. The question becomes more important for the FTout part of the experiment, where we hope to (more than) double the luminosity and hence might want to reduce the number of less-than-useful triggers.
Greetings - Sebastian

Hi all,
I just only now got a chance to have a look into files that Mohammad cooked
Please have a look into slides 4 and 5 of the following link,
[https://res.cdn.office.net/assets/mail/file-icon/png/pptx_16x16.png]Presentation1.pptx<https://jeffersonlab-my.sharepoint.com/:p:/g/personal/rafopar_jlab_org/EVcyMcCkH99Fvx3KomwdhS4BS97U4_ZWDdrjSaLYn9scPw?e=uKFkrt>
Now yes I think the Q2 cut works.
Another question is how much it helps reducing the rates.
Maybe it was discussed in e-mail exchanges, yesterday and today, but didn't get a chance to follow those e-mail yet.
I will read them tomorrow.
Rafo
