Dear members of RGC,
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">in spite of earlier assurances, we received this
message that claims that we will have to “defend” RGC at the
upcoming PAC. I suspect the reason is that because of ongoing
uncertainty (budget and otherwise), the Lab management does not
want to follow their own rules and publish a schedule for next
year. I do feel it is unfair then to expect users to play
strictly by the rules and waste time and resources on this
exercise.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Be that as it may, we may have no choice but to
prepare for this situation. It should be easy enough to compose
an “update” (it could be a summary of the ERR and recent
progress on the target, and maybe 1 paragraph from each of the
spokespersons on why their physics is “still” interesting).
Given that I am totally swamped with the BONuS12 (RGF) run in
Hall B right now (it’s been challenging and can only get more
so), I cannot do much before May - maybe Chris can take the lead
in assembling and editing this document. </div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">More importantly, someone has to go to the PAC
meeting for the presentation and questions., as well as being
available for discussion with PAC members. Since there is only 1
slide for goal and motivation (again, we can take that from the
ERR), the main part of the presentation will be progress on the
target and simulations. This will be mostly coming from the
target group, but should also have input from Angela, Tony,
Silvia and anyone else doing simulations. Unfortunately, I am
presently scheduled to be abroad during the PAC meeting (I
hadn’t anticipated this jeopardy), so again I would like to ask
Chris if he is willing to carry the mantle of RGC leader all the
way through this presentation. Please forgive me for putting you
in this spot, Chris!</div>
