My view on this is the following:
1) The FTCal needs to be repaired with high priority.

2) Cooling down the magnet should be postponed until after the FTCal is repaired.
3) Solenoid MPS tests should be done in parallel to getting access to the FTCal if possible.

Let's meet tomorrow morning at 9 am for a meeting to decide on when to start with the beamline/detector work.

Dear all,

I would like to propose that we collect the following information: What tests are planned for the solenoid, and which of these can be done quickly BEFORE we move everything back again for the FT repair. Also, what is needed for these tests - I think it would
be rather inefficient to use the polarized target as a magnetometer. We should still have the apparatus that used Hall probes to characterize the solenoid field - maybe it can be rigged in a way (fixed position) such that we can measure B vs. I in one place?
Then we can try to organize the FT repair around this.

We may want to plan a quick RC meeting to discuss the options - I am available for the rest of the afternoon, and plan to be at JLab tomorrow (but 2 p.m. will have several conflicts, so it should be at 9 in the morning instead). Please let me know your availability/preferences.
Once the beam line is off, it takes a couple of hours to retract the target. Inserting and aligning is 4+ hours.

Should we wait until the Magnet Group checks the linearity of the solenoid? I just spoke with Probir, and he can confirm this with a Hall probe.
I’d prefer not to cool the target to look for an NMR signal at 0.77 T, only to warm it and remove it afterwards. Seeing the signal at that low field is not guaranteed, and it cause another delay of 2-3 day. We should think of another way to check the linearity
of solenoid.
I'd say 3-4 days, depending on how long it takes to disconnect/reconnect the target and move it upstream/downstream. And I'm guessing that the solenoid work needs to take precedence... we're scheduled to cool down the target tomorrow in order to check the field...
and I don't know how long that will take.
Getting to the detector will require breaking down the upstream beamline, taking the raster magnet off the target cart, moving the target upstream, moving CVT upstream, moving solenoid upstream, and moving HTCC. Then we will have to put everything back together
and align it. This also may interfere with the solenoid work.

Denny, Morgan, could you give an estimate of how long this work may take?
