[Rgc_analysis] Fw: [EXTERNAL] HBT reconstruction data for target polarization measurement

I wanted to forward this conversation with Sebastian about the new coatjava fixes. I include plots (https://cc.jlab.org/system/files/users/gmat%40jlab.org/Presentations/NH3%20Target%20Polarizations%2017067-17098.pdf) of the Tpol using my old fcup asymmetry correction code and the new coatjava fix. I am not sure what exactly was fixed so I was wondering if Raffaella could explain what we should be seeing now in the new scaler banks.

Thanks!
Gregory

Hi Sebastian,

Here are the updated Tpol's for the run range. I have compared my old method of correcting for the FCupgated in RAW::scaler with the new coatjava. I am a bit confused though. Are the scaler bank bits in the newly cooked runs fixed now ? As in, are the fcup's reported in RAW::scaler and even HEL::scaler corrected for the bit flipping issue we were seeing earlier? I assumed that reading HEL::scaler is fine enough for extracting the fcup asymmetries, however it looks like the correction does not smooth out the Tpol curve as we would've hoped. Could you clarify more about what was done?

Best,
Gregory

Dear Gregory,

These new cooking results are with a version of the code that supposedly fixed all FC scaler problems. I would very much like for you to do your analysis on these, to see if the FC-corrected asymmetries now make more sense (and how well they agree with the NMR / with Harut).

>From my end, the only thing missing is a better estimate of the dilution factor - I will be working on this. Meanwhile, let me know what you find.

Best greetings - Sebastian

Hello Harut,
Sebaastian has requested to cooked the first 300 files from the following NH3 runs 17068,17085,17093,17095,17098,17102 for the Pt measurements.
I used coatjava release 8.3.2, HBT reconstruction mode followed by the analysis trains.
The recon files can be found under /volatile/clas12/rg-c/production/ana_data/HBT/8.3.2/dst/recon/
and the analysis skimmed files can be found under /volatile/clas12/rg-c/production/ana_data/HBT/8.3.2/dst/train/

Thanks,
Mohammad.

The NMR shows higher polarization after the anneal. The asymmetry we get seem to indicate consistently higher than NMR polarizations in the beginning. We can revisit our values for the dilution factor. We may be using too optimistic values. In any case polarizations look great, compared to what we had before.

Hello Mohammad ,

The last run in the skim directory

/volatile/clas12/rg-c/production/ana_data/dst/train/sidisdvcs/ is 16987.

Did you put 16989 somewhere else?

Very nice. Your result is even more polarized than Harut’s. I guess we still don’t have a clear understanding where the difference (even in trend) comes from - it MAY be the different method, but it would be good to first check that you get exactly the same raw asymmetry (N+ - N-)/(N+ + N-) as Harut, and if not, if you could compare once again cuts, counts, distributions in W, x and Q2, etc.

Hi Sebastian,

Since we have some difference in the counts, the small difference in the asymmetry is not very surprising. Possible differences may come from slightly different cuts on the sample, including the handling of undefined helicities. We will spend some more time to figure out where the differences are coming, and that will be critical for final analysis note, but for monitoring purposes we should be OK, as we seem to agree on initially higher target polarization compared to NMR right after annealing, going below the NMR values after some time (dose).

Best regards,

Harut

Seems the polarization, even accounting for possible contributions from charge asymmetry is not great.
