Follow collaborators,

Those using UVa's Octavian server for analysis should be advised that
it is not connected to JLab's snapshot system. A backup is essential
to prevent data loss. To this end, I've posted a script on the Wiki
designed to make this process easier. Download the script from the
following link:

http://jlab.org/~jmaxwell/octavian_backup_script.pl

This is a very simple Perl script which guides you through using rsync
for backups. Read the file, change it accordingly, then "chmod +x" to
make it executable, and run it. You may want to set it up to run
daily or weekly as a cronjob, which is easy enough to set up as well:

Rsync will check the difference between files in your original and
backup folders, and change the backup to match the original. It is
not a proper snapshot in this form, but might save you from painful rm
mistakes. Let me know if you are having any trouble with the script.

Thanks,
