Hi,
I have added some plots to my Inclusive pion section on the wiki,
showing:
- output from my standalone version of epc, to compare with Fig. 1 of
O'Connell's paper on high momentum inclusive pions (link to paper
available on the wiki). I compared only the data on C. It agrees with
Fig. 1, as expected. This is the base for the code used in SANE's GEANT
to simulate pion photo- and electroproduction
- output from epc compared to Yerevan data on inclusive photopions at
4.5 GeV bremsstrahlung end point energy. The agreement is generally no
better than a factor of 2, and epc tends to overestimate the data for
pion p > 500 MeV/c.

This points to a possible overestimate of the background modeling we are
using and emphasizes the need for
- comparison with direct positron data,
- comparisons of epc with inclusive pion electro- and photoproduction,
especially since epc uses the Wiser parameterization which is supposed
to be in agreement with other data, including JLab's. I encourage any
SANE collaborators who may be familiar with other data to make the
comparisons or point to the data locations.
Cheers,
Oscar
