Dear collaborators,
I am organizing a workshop about Superconducting Electronics and
Detectors, on December 1st to December 3rd.
Superconducting detectors and electronics are a promising technology
for better position and timing resolution
in high radiation environment where cryogenics is available ( ie close
to a cryogenics target ).
The main issue being integrating superconducting electronics with the
detectors to reduce the amount of signals to send out since the best
performance is achieved with small detectors leading to very high
density of channels.
Several specialists in the field have been invited from AIST (Japan),
NASA, NIST, IMEP-LAHC ( France ), ONR and IARPA a lot of time has been
alloted for discussion. This should give a good overview of where we
stand in terms of technologies, what facilities are available, what is
achievable in the near future and also if Jefferson Laboratory can
contribute to the field with its expertise in superconductors and
cryogenics.
