Hello all,

Our planned (remote) collaboration meeting on Jan. 11-12, 2021 is fast approaching. I apologize for emailing you right before the holiday break, but I need to ask you a favor. As we discussed on Monday’s weekly meeting, we, the CC are in the porcess of organizing the agenda for the meeting. The structure and organization of this collaboration meeting will be slightly different than other recent collaboration meetings.

In particular:

  * We will be organizing 1-2 dedicated sessions for presentations by graduate students and postdocs working on various SBS-related projects
  * In the initial draft of the agenda, we have intentionally left some loosely structured time to be filled with topics and presentations suggested by the broader collaboration. In other words, we want the agenda for the second half of the meeting to be largely collaboration-driven.

To this end, I would like you to answer this open call for speaker nominations for the collaboration meeting, including self-nominations:

  1. If you are the advisor of a graduate student/postdoc working on SBS-related projects, please nominate your students and/or postdocs to introduce themselves and present their work at the meeting. We are seeking talks of approximately 15 minutes’ duration. Self-nominations by students and postdocs are also welcome, in consultation with your advisers. If you would like to nominate yourself and/or your student/postdoc advisee for a talk at the meeting, please e-mail me, your CC chair, the following information:
     * Name, position/title and institutional affiliation of speaker, and
     *   tentative talk title/topic.
  2. In addition, we the CC, seek input from you, the broader collaboration, on topics that you would like to either volunteer to present during the meeting or topics that you would like to see covered during the meeting, including suggested speakers (as appropriate).

We have much important business to cover on the first day of the meeting, but we are hoping for the agenda of the second day of the meeting to be largely collaboration-driven. Please send in your suggestions at your earliest convenience!

Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,
Andrew
