Hello all,
On Saturday we completed our beam centering procedure and resumed running the GMN experiment in Hall A, and completed our optics program by the middle of swing shift. We resumed production data taking late in swing shift and this continues today. Beam quality has been an issue, with a high trip rate and limited current into Halls A and C with A at 4th pass and C at 5th pass. DAQ crashes have also been relatively frequent, but for the most part the recovery of the DAQ has been relatively quick. Apart from these issues, the experiment continues production running, cycling through runs on LH2, LD2, and the 15-cm dummy target. MCC is planning some extended troubleshooting of RF issues affecting machine performance either tomorrow or Tuesday, and this will be discussed at length in tomorrow’s 8 AM ops meeting. As this work will require sending high-current beam into Halls A and C, it would unfortunately not allow us to opportunistically access the hall to replace layer J2 in BigBite. This is the highest-priority item for the next extended downtime for opportunistic access during normal working hours.
As it is Sunday and there are no urgent major issues to discuss, I am canceling the daily experiment meeting for today. We will resume tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Andrew
