We are coming down to the wire with beam expected next week. All subsystems report they are close to ready for beam with small issues being chased down like noisy channels by HCal and BBCal groups. Analysis software is essentially ready for beam and plots for shifters are maturing. Documentation is also being developed. The one upper module of the GEMs closest to the GRINCH is non-operational and a second module that was repaired to keep its mylar sheet from collapsing under beam will no longer hold voltage. Efforts to recover this second module are ongoing by the GEM group over the weekend.
The major status issue to report is a leak that was found in the cooling water for the BigBite magnet. This required the magnet to be moved about 12" and the hoses replaced. The magnet will then be moved back and surveyed on Monday. This repair is expected to delay beam into the hall by 2 days so that we are not likely to get beam before Wednesday, Oct. 6.
Good luck to our next RC David Flay as he coordinates the commissioning of the experiment. Figures [figure:1] and [figure:2] show the coolant hoses that were leaking. Figure [figure:3] shows the new hoses after replacement.
