[Sbs] RC meeting

Hi Alex,

At 9/22 RC meeting before I formulated my questions about DAQ time to readiness status I also talked about the slipped time projection. I guess that it could be considered as unnecessary and I am sorry for that part. Please accept my apology. Written questions are much more simple to prepare.
Best regards,

Bogdan

I did not loose connection, I left since I could not report on issues and how we plan to address them. It is obvious one cannot run the full DAQ if a subsystem has issues running by itself. Organizing another meeting with DAQ group was useless since we are in constant contact with them on slack for several months already. It is fine to discuss possible helpful option by email or privately but one should not waste time of everybody in a meeting.

I agree we are behind and I can understand frustration, but bugs/issues have to be ironed out before able to run all detectors together. We are making progress quickly now we fixed some of those issues and can use more detector together.

Alexandre

Hi Brian,

I guess that your confusion is due to a simple fact that Alex lost internet connection may be even before my questions.

Donald waited for a bit for Alex's reply to my questions before we proceeded to the beam line report from David.

Each of us, who took responsibility to deliver the (sub)system for this experiment need to do it on time also should

inform collaboration, well in advance, if any problem prevent proper and timely preparation.

We suppose to start data taking tomorrow, so each system better to be ready. OK, we have one more week, but it is close.

It will be bad to lose beam time due to insufficient readiness.

Best regards,

Bogdan

Hi Bogdan,

I want to address the way you spoke to Alexandre at Tuesday's first RC meeting. I understand that you are stressed by worries about whether everything will be ready on time. I share those concerns. But the way you spoke with Alexandre, by firing a series of questions at him and then not allowing him to answer them, was anything but productive. I've spoken with other people who were in the meeting who had the same impression as me, that this was harassment, not any productive exchange. If I had realized sooner how this 'conversation' was evolving into abuse, I would have expressed my objection at the time. I'm sorry I didn't think fast enough to do so.

Regardless of your concerns, I believe you owe Alexandre an apology for such treatment. In future, a more reasonable way to express such concerns would be to give him a written list of questions well in advance and to sit quietly while he addresses them.

We are all under stress trying to get the experiment ready to run. That is not an excuse to vent our stress on other people.

                        Regards,
                        Brian
