Dear SBS Collaborators,
On October 31st we will swap from GEn-II to the Wide Angle Pion Photoproduction A_LL (WAPP-A_LL) experiment.
We would like to ask for your help in running the experiment by requesting that you please sign up for shifts!
Moreover, we would like to bring your attention to the current SBS shift policy and the proposed addition (point 5 below) for authorship on the WAPP-A_LL paper via shift-taking.
(i.e. we only explain authorship via shift contributions here, not by other routes).
The current SBS policy is:
1) To leave the basic shift requirements for the primary SBS experiments unchanged save for the caveats described in the subsequent points. The current shift requirements for GMn, GEn and GEp are 10, 15 and 15 shifts, respectively.
2) To establish a new policy that permits fulfilling the shift requirement for a particular (primary) SBS experiment by combining shifts taken on ANY of the SBS experiments.
3) While “combining shifts” will be allowed as described in point #2, we will still require a minimum of 3 shifts on the actual experiment on which the collaborator seeks authorship.
4) To offer a “discount” to those wanting to gain authorship on both GEn and GEp. Specifically, rather than needing to take 15 + 15 = 30 shifts, they only need to take a total of 25 shifts.
For WAPP-A_LL the proposed amendment is:
5) The minimum number of shifts for authorship on the WAPP paper is 5.
As per point #2 above, this total of 5 shifts can be achieved by combining any number of WAPP-A_LL shifts with any pre-existing or future shifts on the other SBS experiments. Similarly, shifts taken during WAPP-A_LL running can also, according to point 2 above, count towards GMn, GEn or GEp if preferred. Please note that for WAPP-A_LL, point 3 above is not enforced, so WAPP_A_LL does not require 3 shifts from the actual run.
Thank you for the help in realising the experiment!
Bogdan, Arun, Gordon and Rachel
