The policy on shift requirements for authorship are described below, and a </span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class="">link is provided to the shift schedule. Please note that you can get credit for shifts RIGHT NOW by </span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class="">coming to JLab and participating in the installation (more details below). It would be a huge help! </span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class="">Also, ALL users must re-register with JLab if you have not done so already during the post-COVID era, </span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class="">and note that it takes about a week to get approval to come on site. Again, a link is provided below.</span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class=""><br class=""></span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class="">Please start signing up, and if possible, spending time at JLab to help with the installation!</span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class=""><br class=""></span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class="">Best regards,</span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class=""><br class=""></span></div><div class=""><span style="font-style: normal; font-size: 17px;" class="">Gordon Cates for the SBS CC</span></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><div class=""><div class=""><div class=""><font size="3" class="">**************************************************************************************</font></div></div><div class=""><div class=""><font size="3" class="">********************** SBS authorship and shift policy *************************</font></div></div><div class=""><div class=""><font size="3" class="">**************************************************************************************</font></div></div><div class=""><font size="3" class=""><br class=""></font></div><div class=""><span class=""><font size="3" class="">The first SBS run group includes the GMn measurement (E12-09-019), as well as </font></span></div><div class=""><span class=""><font size="3" class="">three shorter experiments (see below). At least one primary paper is expected from</font></span></div><div class=""><span class=""><font size="3" class="">each of the four experiments. The basic SBS Collaboration policy for insuring authorship on </font></span></div><div class=""><span class=""><font size="3" class="">one or more </font></span><font size="3" class="">experiments is as follows. For authorship on all four </font><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">(primary) papers, we ask </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">collaborators </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">to take at least 10 shifts, with the caveat that night shifts count as 1.5 shifts. For </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">authorship </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">on only GMn, collaborators are asked to take at least 8 shifts, and for authorship on </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">one of the </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">shorter experiments, collaborators are asked to take at least 5 shifts. Regardless of </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">the specific </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">experiment(s) on which you seek authorship, the shifts can be taken at any time during </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">the first </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">SBS run group. You can sign up for shifts at: </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;"><a href="https://misportal.jlab.org/mis/apps/physics/shiftSchedule/index.cfm?experimentRunId=GMn-2021" class="">https://misportal.jlab.org/mis/apps/physics/shiftSchedule/index.cfm?experimentRunId=GMn-2021</a></span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;"><br class=""></span></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">In addition to taking shifts during the SBS run, collaborators can also get credit for shifts by participating </font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">in </font><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">the installation effort that is currently underway in Hall A. With all the new SBS-related detector </span></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">systems, and fewer people on site because of the pandemic, we are shorthanded preparing for the </font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">beginning of the run in September. Please consider coming to JLab over the next several weeks to </font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">participate. In addition </font><font size="3" class="">to helping insure a timely startup for the run, getting involved right now provides </font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">an excellent opportunity to become more </font><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">familiar with </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">all the SBS-related systems. Each day worked </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">will count as one shift. </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;"><br class=""></span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">*** To join in the installation effort, please contact </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">Bogdan Wojtsekhowski to coordinate your schedule with</span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">the efforts that are going on in Hall A.</span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">*** Note that ALL USERS need to re-register (if they haven't already) for the post-COVID era, and approval</span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">can take up to a week. In fact, users will even lose remote access to their computer accounts if they do not</span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">re-register by August 31st. The process is slightly more involved if you are doing more than taking shifts during</span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">the run, but still straightforward. </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">You </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">can register at: </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;"><a href="https://misportal.jlab.org/jlabAccess/" class="">https://misportal.jlab.org/jlabAccess/</a> .</span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">Please contact Mark Jones if you need further assistance.</span></div><div class=""><font size="3" class=""><br class=""></font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">The SBS Collaboration authorship policy also includes several variations on the basic policy stated</font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">above. Anyone serving as run coordinator for at least one week will be considered </font><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">as satisfying the </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">requirements for authorship on all four primary papers. Also, </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">for individuals who </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">have previously </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">contributed in </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">major ways to the preparation of the SBS experiments, a reduction of the required number </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">of shifts </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Finally, we note that the numerical shift requirement </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">will in </span><font size="3" class="">general </font><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">be applied to research groups as a whole. That is, authorship will be granted to all </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">members </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">of a research group as long as the average number of shifts taken within that group satisfies </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">the basic shift </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">requirement; this assumes, however, that all members of the research group in question </span><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">have indeed been </span></div><div class=""><span class="" style="font-size: medium;">active SBS collaborators. </span></div><div class=""><font size="3" class=""><br class=""></font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">Lastly, we note that we strongly encourage all members of the Hall A collaboration to participate in the</font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">SBS experiments. Should it be the case that there are not enough shifts to meet the demand of those that</font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">wish to participate, we plan to reduce the required number of shifts to better accommodate a larger number</font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">of collaborators.</font></div><div class=""><span class=""><font size="3" class=""><br class=""></font></span></div><div class=""><span class=""><font size="3" class="">The three additional experiments in the first SBS run group:</font></span></div><div class=""><font size="3" class=""><span class="">*** The GEn-RP (recoil polarimetry) measurement </span>(E12-12-0<span class="">12), </span></font></div><div class=""><span class=""><font size="3" class=""><span class="" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">*** Polarization Transfer in Wide-Angle Charged Pion Photoproduction </span>(E12-20-008), and </font></span></div><div class=""><font size="3" class=""><span class="">*** </span><span class="" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">Two-Photon Exchange Contribution to the Electron-Neutron Elastic Scattering Cross Section </span>(E12-20-010)</font></div><div class=""><div class=""><font size="3" class=""><br class=""></font></div><div class=""><font size="3" class="">**************************************************************************************</font></div><div class=""></div></div><div class=""><div class=""><font size="3" class="">**************************************************************************************</font></div><div class=""></div></div><div class=""><div class=""></div></div></div></div><br class=""><div class="">
