<p class="MsoNormal">PS—by way of clarification, I should add that it IS acceptable to copy SBS raw data files to personal/offsite computers or (in very limited quantities) to personal areas of the SBS work or volatile disks that are NOT followed by Bob’s scripts,
for the purposes of software testing, etc. However, for the reasons noted in my previous message, copying or renaming or otherwise manipulating the raw data files on the Hall A data disks that are managed by Bob’s scripts is to be avoided under all circumstances.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I have been asked by Bob Michaels to remind everyone that it is best practice for those of us involved in data analysis to not tamper with SBS raw data files in any way. Doing anything to the raw data files other than reading them using
our Hall A analyzer software simply should not be done under any circumstances, period. Let Bob’s automated scripts manage the copying of the raw data out to tape, in order to avoid accidental loss of data!

tape storage. Your interaction with these files should be read-only; i.e., processing them using the analyzer.
