No beam to Hall A since yesterday shortly before 2 pm due to a Hall A dump leak in the tritium tank area. Up to that point the accelerator and Hall A ran very efficiently and we accumulated a total of 0.7 C out of ~ 2 C desired for this BB and SBS polarity setting. At the 9 am MCC RC meeting this morning we were told that the repairs of the Hall A dump leak won't start until Monday but all necessary documentation and planning of the repair work will be happening between now and Monday morning so that the actual repair work can start as soon as possible on Monday: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4226391. For a detailed account of how the Hall A dump situation evolved since yesterday owl, current status and repair plan going forward see entry by Carroll: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4226417

All Hall A shifts are cancelled until Monday morning so the Hall A counting house will not be staffed until that time. The Hall will be kept in Power Permit. The RC will show up once a shift to complete the shift checklist. The TO for Monday day should show up for their shift as usual. The SL for Monday day is on standby. All the shifts after Monday day are still ON as of now.

On Monday morning Radcon will survey the Hall to put it in controlled access (I spoke with Dave Hamlette about supporting that). Bill wants to check on the PSs for the holding field coils and Jiwan may be available to reduce the coin time window between BB and SBS. If other work needs to happen in the Hall on Monday morning, please let the RC know.

As part of preparing the Hall for an unstaffed counting house the following has happened so far:

--> Target side: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4226402, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4226434. As a result of these actions no TO is needed in the counting house until Monday morning when we will start polarizing the He target again.

--> SBS and BB magnets are off: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4226433, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4226432

--> SBS and BB GEM HV was turned off by the GEM expert on call: https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4226432

As of now the HV for BB shower and preshower, Grinch and HCal is still on. We will discuss what to do about those at the 3:30 pm RC meeting. If no one is planning to take cosmics data, I would prefer to turn the HV off for those detectors as well.

The parity DAQ is running and it will continue to run as Hall C depends on it for monitoring their charge asymmetries. I told the Hall C RC that Hall C is now in charge of changing the IHWP state (after checking with Hall B) and what script to run to change the injector control voltages when the IHWP state changes: https://sbs.jlab.org/wiki/index.php/HOW_TOs#What_to_do_when_the_IHWP_sta...

We will meet at 3:30 pm today for our daily RC meeting:

People can join remotely via: https://jlab-org.zoomgov.com/j/1616220064
Meeting ID: 161 622 0064
Passcode: 314159

I would like to discuss the status of the Hall and the path going forward so please call in.
