<p>Yesterday Jack gave the GEM folks the go ahead that the mixing system for the GEM gas was now calibrated using the Binary Gas analyzer to the same concentration as that of a premixed container manufactured by Praxair. Yesterday and overnight the system was flushed (not going into the BB layers) . This gave us an opportunity to see how the mixing gas system behaves. It was stable at the desired concentration overnight. That being noted I came into the lab this morning (at about 10am) and swapped the tubes at the BB GEM gas distribution panel in the Hall so that way the mixed Ar/CO2 is now flushing through the BB GEMs. I have also shut off the N2 at the gas shed, which was running through the old Argon/ Ethane setup. Which we had decided to use temporarily to flush premixed gas. We will now need to flush the GEM layers for a some time. At least 10 hours, preferably a full day for ideal efficiencies. But I need to talk with some GEM folks to get a more realistic number.!
