Dear All,

Following the Jefferson Lab shutdown in January 2024,  several service-affecting data center changes are scheduled. The work will be begin starting  Tuesday Jan 2nd to avoid conflicts with with the beam schedule for physics.


  *   The Tape Library will be out of service Tuesday Jan 2nd  until Monday, Jan 8th. The library will be modified to add additional tape drive expansion room and a second robotic accessor. Tape storage tools, including jcache and LQCD srm tools,  will not be available during that time. Farm jobs requiring files from tape will queue until the library reconfiguration is completed. Farm jobs running from disk will continue to be scheduled.
  *   A single day power outage for compute clusters including the farm and LQCD  is being coordinated with Facilities Management during this period. Additional information will follow once a date is fixed.
  *   A Slurm upgrade to the farm is planned during this week. Although Slurm upgrades  are typically transparent to user jobs, there is the possibility that the queue of pending jobs will need to be cleared. Additional information about the timing will follow.  The Slurm upgrade will add new GPU and CPU scheduling capabilities,  patch security issues, and prepare the farm for the AlmaLinux 9 upgrade.
