Subject: [EXTERNAL] Weekly update

This week the project office reviewed the open action items from various reviews to ensure issues are being addressed. In the superconducting area, another cavity was qualified at JLab, bringing the total qualified count to 7, out of 12 received. The percentage of cavities that do not require a re-rinse for qualification is increasing. Ten more cavities are expected to be received at JLab this year, things are moving well in this area. In the RF area, procurements were initiated for LLRF components. The superconducting klystron delivery is delayed by about 4 weeks, but this will not impact the power ramp-up. In the new 3MW DTL klystron procurement, the cause of the previously reported crack in the last cavity has been explained and a corrective action applied. In the ring area purchase requisitions were placed for the new instrumentation in the Ring Injection Dump. We have subcontracted a SLAC staff member to assist with the beam power limiting system, which will leverage their recent experience deploying this type system. In the target area the purchase order for the MOTS delay bed was awarded, mockup equipment for the mercury process system upgrade is out for bids, and many target parts are in fabrication, including the swirl bubblers which are expected to arrive next week. In the klystron gallery conventional facility area, the first pressure test of installed duct work was successful, and piping/cable tray installation is proceeding. A major power outage to tie in new high voltage supplies resulted in an unexpected loss of power to cryogenic systems and was terminated. This power outage is being re-scheduled.

Overall PPU continues to make good progress, despite the COVID impacts which are scattered across many level-2s now. Have a great week-end - jg
