Subject: [EXTERNAL] Weekly update

PPU procurements were reviewed this week, and the long lead procurement awards have progressed well. Contracts totaling ~ $35M have been awarded to date, with an expectation of being ~$38M by the end of this month (not including JLab contracts). We are still awaiting the Independent Cost Estimate report from DOE.

At the partner lab JLab, cryomodule heat exchanger components have been accepted, after resolving questions on some welds, and an NCR is being processed. The frequency is being measured on the first cavity received from the German vendor last week, and gradient/Q measurements will be conducted in the next week. At SNS, preparations are underway for scheduled final design reviews for LLRF (Sept. 16-17) and the new warm linac high voltage convertor modulator (Sept.22). In the Ring area, we are working with the group at Stonybrook NY which coats the targets for the beam imaging purposes to provide a similar capability for the beam window in the injection dump area. Also, FNAL is preparing for the final design review for the injection septum magnet and analyzing the required magnet measurement system needed to verify the field requirements. This will be the last remaining upgrade magnet to receive final design. In the target area, the contract for procurement of the PPU test target 2, with options for the other PPU targets is being finalized for award, with the expectation that we can award the options soon after the upcoming ESAAB approval for CD-3. The initial part of the hazard analysis workshop was held onsite with key members and a follow-on discussion with broader participation will be held by videoconference in early Oct. In the klystron gallery buildout, the pump-room roof /siding interface was completed, and an issue was identified in the roof curb slope. A fix has been identified, and the delay will not impact critical path. Regarding work inside the klystron gallery, shop drawings for utility hangers, cable trays, fire-protection equipment and cooling pipe headers have been produced from the 3-D BIM model, and the contractor shop has been checked for readiness to proceed with component fabrication.

Thanks for all the efforts keeping things moving forward in these interesting times - jg
