Subject: [EXTERNAL] PPU weekly update
In the PPU area, the second new PPU cryomodule installed in the tunnel this outage began cooldown this week. Also a vendor visit was made to inspect progress on the “U-tube” cryomodule cryogenic connector fabrication progress. In the RF area, the complete RF system for the upcoming phase-2 run cycle was high power tested through the klystrons to shorting plates, with good results. In the Ring area, the first 2 (of 3 being installed in the upcoming long outage) ring injection magnets fabricated at FNAL arrived at SNS. In the target systems area progress remains on track for equipment needed for the long outage installation including molecular sieve beds, and targets. Finally, the RTBT stub construction contract process passed both ORNL contract and local site DOE approval steps and will be awarded soon.
