[Solid_ec] UVa update

Dear All:

Both I and Vince are at the Gordon research conference today. Alexandre has kindly agreed to chair the EC meeting again. Here I'd like to provide an update on the UVa side.

Vince has setup the vertical dark box for the cosmic test of the COMPASS module. He is using two CsI crystals for the hodoscope. The system is working fine but so far we have not seen the MIP peak yet.  The rate is fairly low but the MIP should be seen after a full-day run. It's possible that the gain is too high and the MIP is beyond the ADC range.  Vince will continue the test after he returns to UVa. The first thing to do is to test the response of the ADC for saturating signals (do they all end up at the same channel or do not show up at all?), then take a long run with 1/4 of gain.
