Dear Ye Tian,

Thank you for your question. It's impossible to see from the picture I showed at today's
meeting, but we use two scintillator bars. The second bar is below the hedgehog assembly.

For the readout of the fibers, I am using a Phillips XP2262 PMT, which has relatively
high gain (-2100 V). With this PMT, I can isolate the single photon peak easily. The
gain and location of the SPE is fairly stable with this PMT, which is another reason
I prefer to use it.

If I tried to use the Hamamatsu R11102 PMT, I would not be able to see the SPE, and I
would have to rely on the gain as you do.

Best Regards,
Vince

Hi Vincent,
I'm still curious about your cosmic test trigger. Do you use one
scintillator or two scintillators for trigger? If you just use one, that
make sense.
As we know, the detection effeciency is very high, if use two
scintillators, it could reach more than 98%. For our experiment before,
it's hard to detect single photon when using two scintillators as trigger,
only the trigger threshold is very low. Because the single photon peak is
stable, we get the gain of every PMT using other method, and then get the
photon number from signal divided by gain.

Best Regards,
Ye Tian
